James M. Sutter is a small-time con artist who began masquerading as a Christian minister in the early-1990's, a few years before his second felony conviction in 1996 for defrauding and stealing from an array of creditors and businesses. Although he currently calls himself "Reverend," his religious title is actually based on a $10 certificate to perform marriages. His experience as a church pastor is just as fictitious as the three PhD's and combat decorations that he also claims to have earned. In the past, Sutter has amused himself by conning people with disabilities, veterans, Christians and even rape victims by pretending to be something that he is not. His latest scheme has been to try and fool people into thinking that he is an "anti-hate" crusader. He uses his website, ChasingEvil.org to attack personal enemies (usually those who have exposed him as a fraud) and to do harm to the reputations of businesses with baseless and shallow accusations of racism and "hate-mongering." Although the lies that
he tells about others are shockingly malicious, Sutter's many tall tales about
himself are sometimes amusing. At the very least, they demonstrate why he
is not taken seriously by reputable publishers, even on the Left. |

Who is the Real Jim Sutter?
The Real Sutter? |

Perhaps worst of all, Jim Sutter is a thief. He steals the accomplishments of true academics by claiming phony doctorates. He shamelessly cheapens the sacrifice of heroes in uniform, who actually earned the combat medals and decorations that this peacetime Navy dropout merely writes into his resume. He even steals from the public welfare roll by refusing to work. Now he is using lies to try and steal the reputation and good name of others merely to make a name for himself. |
